Israel Will Soon Experience Peace and War of Gog

AS PEACE & SAFETY ARE CELEBRATED IN THE MIDDE EAST, ANCIENT END TIME PROPHECIES OF WAR & DESTRUCTION LOOM! 

Not to be thought of as a Debbie Downer, let’s start the following biblical revelations on a positive note. There are five really great current events that are taking place in the Middle East. Israel has defeated Lebanon's Hezbollah, a terrorist organization in the North. Israel will soon eradicate the Gaza Strip's Hamas terrorist organization in the south. Hezbollah eagerly signed a peace treaty with Israel while Hamas has vowed to fight until their last solider is killed. Israel had negotiated peace treaties with many of its greatest enemies. And, Israel seriously degraded Iran’s military while not a single Middle East Arab country raised an objection. More on that in a moment. So, if Israel is almost at peace with its neighbors, life is good ... right? 

SUMMARY 

On May 14th, 1948, it was announced that Israel was a nation (Isaiah 66:8). Until this momentous event, very little was written about end time prophecies. That is because they all relied on Israel existing as a nation. The land of Israel had become a "waste" as reported by Mark Twain in his 1867 book, "The Innocents Abroad". However, the Jews returned in mass to Israel and developed an ingenious way to make the desert bloom (Isaiah 35:1). But as a nation, Israel has been attacked and has had to fight and defeat the majority of its largest and most powerful Arab neighbors. With the imminent defeats of the terrorist groups Hezbollah and Hamas, Israel can clearly see true lasting peace on the horizon. In fact, Israel has signed peace agreements with the vast majority of their surrounding Arab nations. Further, Bible prophecies tells us of this time of peace in Israel at the end of this Age. But prophecy also states that a number of nations that include Russia, Turkey, Iran, Sudan, Libya, Algeria, Tunisia, and others, will attack Israel in an effort to acquire its bountiful wealth, natural resources and technological advancements. This military strike is known as the “War of Magog”. It is also referred to as the “Psalm 83-Ezeliel 38 War”. 

This battle will be commanded by Russia, financed by China and armed by North Korea. These three countries are commonly referred to as the Axis of Evil. Russia will raise a million man army from nations collectively known as the Soviet Bloc or Warsaw Pact. This army will move one thousand miles directly south to the Iranian/Iraqi borders. Iran will supply another million militarily trained men. However, this coalition will also include an ‘Army of the Willing’ referred to in Scripture as “many people”. 

The strategies to surround Israel are made and the armies begin to move, apparently not having read Scripture. God even questions Gog as to his not having read what the prophets clearly stated about his aggression against Israel and how this effort will surly end (Ezekiel 38: 17-18). God the Father is watching them and ready to literally step into human history. He patiently waits until the military armies are inside the Israeli border. Then He causes the armies to turn and fire their weapons on themselves. The armies self-implode as Israel and the world watch in amazement and horror.

Israel now celebrates this incredible victory being snatched from the jaws of defeat by their God Yahweh. At the same time, the Israeli military moves quickly to expand their current borders to the original ones promised to Abraham c.2000 BC. The new borders will continue to stop in the north at Lebanon, but to the east they will be extended to the Euphrates River and to the South to the Egyptian Nile. These Arab countries now can only stand idly by as they have been left with practically no military personal and dramatically reduced populations. Remember, most able bodied Arab men volunteered to fight, or at least be on location to watch the invasion into Israel. This act made them culpable in the eyes of God, and now they too were struck dead along with the military forces.  

This sudden territory expansion on the part of Israel causes extreme turmoil to the stability in the Middle East. There are very real fears that Israel will now be embolden to keep expanding its borders. All the past Abrahamic Peace Accords and other various treaties have now been broken. It is then that we see the rise of the Antichrist who will broker a 7 year peace treaty with Israel on behalf of the eastern and western nations to stop their territorial advances.  

Scripture is not clear if the Righteous of the world will be Raptured before or after this war. More on that later.

THE DEEP DIVE 

A majority of Arab nations are currently enjoying the peace and economic prosperity provided by working with Israel. All of this goodwill was made possible by the Abrahamic Peace Accord. Further, America has also made peace treaties with other antisemitic Arab nations on its own accord and for its own benefits. So these are all great and positive events that would ordinally signal that happy days are ahead for God’s chosen people, the Jews. But sadly, certain Bible prophecies tell us that this is not to be. To understand how something so sweet can turn so sour, we need to take a very brief look at the Abrahamic Peace Accord.

WHATS WITH THIS ABRAHAMIC PEACE ACCORD? 

The following it only a very basic explanation of a complicated series of negotiations. But to understand the Abrahamic Peace Accord (APA) is to understand how the Psalm 83- Ezekiel 38 prophecies will very soon come to pass in the form of a brief war. 

In May of 1948, Israel became a nation overnight (Isaiah 66:8). The Arabs had formed a 22 member Arab League to promote cooperation in the areas of politics, economy and culture. And while they disagreed on many things, they were all firmly united against the idea of the Jews being given land, in the middle of the Arab world, by the Christian west, to be used as their independent and democratic nation. The Jews had been exiled from their land 2,000 years earlier by the military might of Rome, and the Arabs saw this event as good riddance to bad rubbish. Thus, not a single Arab nation agreed with this 1948 Israeli Declaration of Independence. The day after this announcement was made, six surrounding Arab nations simultaneously attacked Israel from the north, south, east and west. To this day, Israel’s stunning victory is seen as a miracle in that this tiny, brand new nation, was able to stop and eventually defeat all the armies of six major hostile nations.

Over the past 77 years, Israel has repelled various Arab nations in 8 major conflicts. And each time, Israel won each war hands down. It soon became clear to all Arab nations that Israel was not only here to stay, but it had become unbelievably successful in business, technology, investments and agriculture. At the same time, it had amassed the most modern and powerful army and secret service in the world second only to the U.S., Russia and China. So what could the Arab world do about this indominable redheaded step child? 

GIVE PEACE A CHANCE 

In 1979 Anwar Sadat, President of Egypt, signed a peace treaty with Israel. Immediately Egypt began to see the economic gains that came by working with Israel. And, for this good deed, Sadat was assassinated in 1981. Still the peace agreement held and Egypt continued to reap the rewards. This did not go unnoticed by the other Arab states. The problem with peace was, the other nations had far right conservative hard liners in control. And they wanted Israel destroyed even if it meant they could not participate in the vast rewards that came with peace. It was the principle involved. 

However, in 2020 the second nation to break with the Arab League was the runt of the litter, United Arab Emirates (UAE). It was tiny nation with a population of only one million. But it was sitting on one on the largest oil reserves in the world. This betrayal was quickly followed by Bahrain the second runt in the litter with a population of 750,ooo. But the media was suddenly abuzz with the economic and security advantages these two countries would have by making a peace treaty with Israel. Thus began the slow but steady move by more and more Arab nations to sign a peace treaty with Israel. While each treaty had different give and take articles, they all stressed the economic and security gains by working together in a landscape filled with terrorist groups springing up like popcorn. Therefore, all these individual treaties were grouped under the singular name Abrahamic Peace Accord. Both the Jew and Arabs claim Abraham as their original patriarch. The Jews by way of his son Isaac and the Arabs by his son Ishmael from an Egyptian slave. But there was always one fly in the ointment, and it involved Allah and Persia known today as Iran. 

You see, when Mohammed died in 632 AD., he had neglected to write down the doctrines of his new Muslim religion. He also did not devise a system of leadership succession. This caused his Muslim followers to immediately divide into two warring factions known as the Sunni and the Shia. The Shia believed that the leader of Islam needed to be a direct blood descendant of Muhammad. This way the leaders would be privy to divine revelations. The Sunni believed that Islamic scholarship plus a consensus of the community should be the leading philosophy. Today, the Sunni denomination is followed by 90% of Muslims. Iran ultimately became the lone bastion of the small Shia sect. Because these two sects hate each other with a passion, Iran became paranoid of eventually being overrun by the Sunni nations. So, they decide to develop an atomic bomb to insure mutual self-destruction should they be invaded. They publicly announced that the bomb was to be used to destroy Israel, but it was actually all about the fear of the hostile Sunni followers.  

THE ABRAHANIC PEACE ACCORD TODAY

 Today, eight Arab nations have signed a peace treaty with Israel and have profited greatly. Israel has also promised these nations that, should one of their neighbors {Iran} attack any of them, they will use their military might to defeat them. As of this 2025 writing, there are only two outstanding issues the other Arab nations want to see resolved: the war between Israel and the Hamas terrorists group sponsored by Iran, and the Palestinians displaced when the land they had occupied for 2,000 years was declared the State of Israel in 1948.

THE LAST STRAW

 When Hamas attacked Israel in October 2023, they killed 1,200 innocent men, women, children and even beheaded infants. Then they quickly retreated back into Gaza taking with them 251 hostages both dead and alive. There they hid in 350 miles of underground tunnels ranging from one hundred to two hundred and fifty feet deep {thirty stories}. These tunnel systems were located in at least five known cities throughout the Gaza Strip. Over the past two years, Israel has methodically and systematically bombed and collapsed these tunnels and buildings suffocating the Hamas forces hiding in them. This tactic has saved the lives of countless Israeli military personnel, but has caused the deaths of 41,000 Palestinians and displacing 90% of the population. This has created a humanitarian crisis and an international call for peace. While Hamas can no longer receive military aid from its sponsor Iran, they refuse to surrender and lately refuse to release more hostages. They are currently bargaining with 20 living hostages and 30 dead bodies. They will most probably be completely destroyed over the next year and the rebuilding of Gaza overseen by and international coalition will began.  

As a way of saving face due to the defeats of Hezbollah and Hamas, Iran announced that they were starting to enrich Uranium in order to come ever closer to building an atomic weapon to use against Israel. Israel responded by launching an air attack on Iran in June 2025. Over the course of twelve days, Israeli forces destroyed Iran’s entire air radar network, all their military depos and weapon manufacturing location, their entire Airforce, all missile launcher sites and all above ground nuclear weapon production sites. At that same time they assassinated all of Iran's top military leaders and nuclear scientists. Then America sent B-2 Stealth bombers into Iran and dropped 12 thirty thousand pound 'Bunker Buster' bombs on three underground nuclear enrichment sites. The exact amount of damage done is not clear at this time, but the bombs did hit their targets and did detonate. 

SO HERE WE ARE 

So, here we are, Hezbollah defeated in the north, Hamas defeated in the south and Iran badly crippled and humiliated in the east. Not to mention that all of Israel’s surrounding Arab neighbors did not lift a finger nor uttered a peep to help Iran. Instead, they stood silently by, fanning themselves with their peace treaties. So, it looks like clear blue skies, smooth sailing and a bright new future ahead for Israel and the Arab nations. One big fat love fest.  

WHAT COULD POSSIBLY GO WRONG?  

Well, fortunately for us, Bible prophecies always came to fruition. Unfortunately, there are two future Bible prophesies that spells out in detail what the Middle East is currently experiencing at this time with its peace initiatives. But there will soon follow a series of devastating events. However, the news is not all bad. In this particular case, we read that God Himself will personally step into human history and completely destroy the bad guys thus saving Israel. And, that He will do this a second time, 7 years later at the end of the War of Armageddon. So, who are the bad guys, when will this happen and why does God need to personally intervene? Can’t we continue to fight our own dirty little wars without His his help?

SHOW US 'BAD GUYS'! 

Prophecy is clear that the Bad Guys are, the “Kings of the East” {China, North Korea} (Revelation 16:12), “Magog” {Russia & its allies} (Revelation 20:8) and “Persia” {Iran} (Ezekiel 38:5-6). Seems like this year, as never before, we have heard about these particular nations and their beef with America and Israel.  

Iran is now completely isolated from the industrialized world. Its terrorist military organizations have been brought to the point of extinction, and worldwide sanctions continue to cripple its economy. The country is run by an 86 year old, irate Supreme Leader, now hiding underground in a bunker. But he is more determined than ever to see Israel and America pay for the recent humiliation of him and his nation in a quickly and relatively easy way. He still has his army of 800,000 men and he still has his burning hatred for the “Little Satan” Israel, his worthless Arab neighbors and the “Great Twin Satan’s”, America and Europe. His only alliances today are with Russia, China and North Korea. All three of which he also hates because he sees them as godless infidels also in need of being destroyed. But as the saying goes, “America First!”. Therefore, the west needs to pay for what they have done to him. In his mind, the enemies of my enemies become my friends. What else can he do? Who else can he turn to? His major enemies need to pay for what they have done by embarrassing his nation, depressing its economy, and threatening his golden dynasty. The west needs to pay, but how to do it? 

China has, for over 20 years, refused to play by the international trade laws (WTO) of the industrialized world. It has made tremendous profits and the standard of living in China has grown leaps and bounds for the average Chinese citizen. President Xi Jinping will remain in his position for life if the economy continues to grow. The west, with is insatiable greed for cheap products, created trillions of dollars in profits for China each year. China has used these profits to make a variety of investments on a worldwide scale. They have bought US stocks, bonds, banks, investment firms, manufacturing plants, vast tracks of timber land and independent farms. With their massive profits they have financed the building of seven 2,500 acre manmade islands in the south China Sea to serve as military outposts. 

However, in 2025, the United States levied a series of tariffs on China designed to raise import prices and cause Americans to buy more US goods and significantly less Chinese goods. This has caused factories in China to begin to close and people are starting to be laid off. This is alarming to the Chinese people who have never experienced a recession. While China has a million man army, it cannot control one billion four hundred million irate Chinese citizens. Xi is very worried! Now he hates America even more than before. They need to pay for what they have done to embarrass his nation, depress the economy and threatened his golden dynasty. The west needs to pay, but how to do it? 

Putin assumed that the Russian army could invade Ukraine and the country would surrender within a month. But Ukraine fought back, and with the help of America and Europe, has turned the battle into a full-scale ongoing war. Russia has now lost slightly over one million men (killed & wounded) and its economy is practically nonexistent due to worldwide sanctions. If it was not for its oil sales, Russia would have collapsed by now into a third world status. To make matters worse, western countries are slowly but steadily replacing Russian oil with green energy and purchasing oil from other locations. Putin now has a boiling hatred for America and Europe as they have embarrassed his nation, depressed the economy and threatened his golden dynasty. The west needs to pay, but how to do it? 

North Korea is considered the poorest country in the world. Its dictator Kim Jong Un is so brutal that the country has every sanction known to man leveled against it. The nation only survives because China does just enough business with it to keep it afloat, but always on the brink of collapse. China sees Kim as their petulant red headed step-child. They do not want to see him killed and replaced with a democratic regime like South Korea on their border. Recently, Russia started paying Kim in food to build weapons to be used against Ukraine. So basically, his people will not starve if they produce weapons that kill innocent people. 

Kim is like all dictators in that he lives in constant fear of his people starting an uprising that ends with him hanging from a lamp post. This was the constant fear of Hitler (suicide before could be hanged), Mussolini (hung upside down), Saddam Hussein (public hanging), Muammar Gaddafi (sodomized by sword), and Putin (accidental fall from 4 story window) if he loses the war with Ukraine. To stop this from happening, Kim developed an atomic weapon. To raise the hundreds of millions of dollars needed, he had to starve to death tens of thousands in his country’s civilians, but in his mind it was worth it. He publicly announced that the bomb provided protection from an American invasion! But it’s actually to be used on his people should they revolt. Still, America put a permanent Minute Man Missile launch system in Japan. So, if Kimmy launches a missile that even vaguely appears to be headed for the U.S., it will be shot down within a minute of being launched and fall harmlessly into the Pacific Ocean. While Kim has 50 nuclear missiles, the Minuteman System has thousands of rockets.

THE AXIS OF EVIL HAS A PROBLEM 

So here we see how and why the Axis of Evil, prophesied in the Bible, has now come to exist. And we see why America is the reason they have united in a common cause. But BIG problem. They cannot attack America as they will in turn be obliterated. So, who can they attack instead as a way to upset America and yet survive the blow back? It would need to be a small country they could definitely defeat. It would need to be in close proximity to them for logistical military purposes. And, it would need to have very close personal ties with America and its people. But who fits that bill? Let’s think? Oh! of course…the Jews of Israel! 

These four military powers hate Israel for a variety of reasons including jealousy over its vast accomplishments in only seventy seven years. And, generally speaking, the world is currently not that crazy about the Jews. Antisemitism worldwide is at an all-time high. In fact, the Jews are even currently infighting among themselves both in Israel and around the world concerning political and religious views. So, Israel is in their crosshairs! But wait, what about Israel’s cement protection walls with its neighbors, its tremendous military might and those pesty peace treaties with the Arab nations? Not to mention that while Israel has never publicly stated it had nuclear weapons, Jimmy Carter slipped up in 2008 and announced it had 150+ war heads. So what to do about those issues?  

EVIL MAKES A PLAN 

So, here is the plan of action to address these problems and achieve their goal of destroying the nation of Israel (Psalm 83:2-5). First, China will supply the funding necessary to create the armies that will be needed to conquer Israel. North Korea will manufacture the weapons. They have been mass manufacturing most of Russia’s weapons for the past 3 years and are up to the task. Russia, located one thousand miles directly north of Israel, will supply their army and direct the military invasion plans. The Ukraine War has provided invaluable experience for them in this area. Iran will provide the initial man power using their current army of 800,000 military personnel, while at the same time, recruiting an additional ‘Army of the Willing’. Even though the Arab nations have signed economic treaties with Israel, do not confuse this with their continued deep, deep hatred of the Jewish race. Money is one thing, but religious intolerance is another.

Recent polls show that approximately 97% of Arabs in the Middle East do not like the Jews. And 74% of Arabs outside of the Middle East do not like them. Further, there are currently an estimated 450 million Arabs living in the Middle East with an additional 50 million living throughout the world. Even more depressing, recent polls show that 46% of the world’s adult population holds, “... deeply entrenched antisemitic attitudes towards the Jewish race”. This translates to 2.2 billion people. This means there could easily be over hundreds of millions of people that would be proud to fight and die in an attempt to finally wipe Israel off the map … peace treaties or no peace treaty. Additionally, all Islam followers are taught that the only way to insure that they go to Heaven, is to die fighting for the spread of Islam against the infidels of the earth. Sad but true.

WHAT IS THE NAME OF THIS WAR & WHEN WILL IT START? 

So now we know why certain nations will plot against Israel and how they will come to participate in a war against it. Now we only need to know the name of this war, when this war will start and how it will end. Because these events are in the near future, we can review the prophecies themselves and guesstimate an accurate time line and conclusion. 

Biblical scholars are split on the name this particular war. Some call it the “War of Armageddon”, some the "Psalm 83 War", some the "Ezekiel 38 War" and others the "War of Gog-Magog".

THE WAR OF MAGOG

First, this war absolutely cannot be the War of Armageddon for a number of reasons. Scripture tells us that Armageddon will involve the actions of the Antichrist during the final 3.5 years of the Great Tribulation Period. He will cause the “armies of the world” to descend on Israel, but is defeated by the "Second Coming of Christ". Other Biblical scholars call this war the "Psalm 83- Ezekiel 38 War". This title comes from verses contained in two Old Testament Books, written by two different prophets, yet seemingly describe the exact same war. Ezekiel doubles down on this coalition army by giving it the name Magog. For this reason I will refer to this war as the "War of Magog". The military actions and outcomes described in the Books of Psalm and Ezekiel are completely different from the military actions and outcomes in Revelation and Armageddon. At Armageddon, Israel is successfully invaded, Jerusalem falls, the Jews recognize Christ as Messiah, which triggers the Second Coming with the unrighteous struck dead and followed by the Messianic Age or Millennial Reign. Whereas, the descriptions of the War of Magog ends with Israel victorious through the power of God and greatly expanding its borders in line with those originally described by God to Abraham in the Book of Genesis (Genesis15:18-21). Further, in the War of Magog, the immediate enemies of Israel are destroyed, but others still exist and will strike again led by the Antichrist during the War of Armageddon. Also with the War of Magog, there is no mention of the Rapture, the armies of the world arriving in Israel, Jerusalem falling, the Messiah arrives, and the Messianic Age begins.

THIS WAR IS NOT THAT WAR

My research has led me to conclude that this coming War of Magog with Israel is not the War of Armageddon. In fact, because God steps in, it is not really a war but more of a short suicide mission with all the casualties limited to one side. Not like the Antichrist led wars of the 3.5 year Tribulation that ends at Armageddon. However, this event does causes the rise of the World Leader or Antichrist by the displaying of his astounding peace negotiation skills initially with the Arab nations and Israel. But he will soon have other peace negotiation successes with other nations of the world including Europe. It is the European armies that provide him with a military power base (Revelation 17:12-18). It is also these peace treaties that eventually brings about an understanding that the world would be safer and more economically equitable and sustainable if there was a One World Government system with a One World Syncretistic Religion. None of this is mentioned in the Books of Psalm or Ezekiel. They only mention the bare bones of a brief invasion into Israel that ends quickly and catastrophically for the invaders. This decisive action by God helps explain why the Antichrist is able to completely defeat Russia during the final 3.5 years of the Tribulation, and why the Muslim religion is not mentioned in the End of the Age prophetic events.

  LISTEN TO WHAT THE PROPHETS SAY 

Here is Ezekiel's prophecy concerning the nations that will make up the coalition army that will attack Israel.

“Thus says the Lord God: Behold, I am against you. O Gog, the prince of Rosh {Russia}, Meshech {Moscow}, and Tubal … Persia, Ethiopia, and Libya are {also} with them … Gomer and all its troops…Togarmah from the far north ….In the latter years {end of Age} you will come into the land {Israel} of those {Jews} brought back from the sword and gathered from many people … brought out of the nations…” (Ezekiel 38: 3; Ezekiel 38: 5-6, 8).  

In Ezekiel 38, God reveals a ten nation coalition that will assemble in the last days of the Age of the Rule of Mankind. Most of the names Ezekiel lists are foreign to us today. But we can rather easily deduce the modern names. A big help is that all prophets assumed that Israel was located at the center of the earth. So all mentions of countries being in the north would mean to the north of Israel etc. Ezekiel and Daniel both prophesize that at the end of the current Age of the Rule of Man, Israel’s enemies will descend down from the north. Daniel even sited the phrase “King of the North” to describe the commander of this alliance (Daniel 11:6-8). Ezekiel’s prophecy agrees with Daniel’s that the invading armies will arrive in Israel “from the far north”(Ezekiel 38;6; Ezekiel 38:15). 

SO WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE EZEKIEL HAS IDENTIFIED?  

After the flood, Noah’s sons and grandsons divided various parts of Asia, Africa and Europe. Genesis Ch. 20 records the ancient genealogy of the nations. All Ezekiel’s nations and their ancient geographical territories are mentioned in Genesis’ Table of Nations. Ancient historians including Herodotus and Flavius Josephus in his “Antiquities of the Jews” tell us where most of the tribes ultimately settled. Bible scholars and historians can trace the names of Noah’s sons to certain tribal groups and regions thus identifying them with modern nations.  

Today there is general agreement as to the identity of the majority of the 10 ancient territories or nations that Ezekiel cites. The leading nations are the grandsons of Noah, through his son Japheth (Genesis 10:1-2). Japheth is the patriarch of the European race. Magog is his 2^nd son, Tubal the 5^th son and Meshach is the 6th son. These names are not fiction and have been unearthed in many ancient archeological sites. They reinforce the validity of very early written accounts of ancient history. The families of their forefather adopted their names as tribal names. So for example, the family descended from the patriarch Magog, became known as the tribe of Magog.  

Below you will find the modern day equiveillance of those nations with their armies and populations that will be determined to invade and destroy Israel.  

                            A SPECIAL TITLE FOR A SPECIAL MAN 

Gog is a word used as a title (Ezekiel 39:1-4). It means a “Leader” or a “Commander”. Ezekiel describes Gog as “chief prince of Rosh” (Ezekiel 38:3). Hebrew grammar supports the definition of this word as a Leader. So Gog is a person rather than a nation. However, since Gog is the chief prince of Rosh, and Rosh is Russia, then Gog is therefore the title God has given to the leader of Russia at the time of its invasion of Israel. Today we would call this man … Putin. 

                                       NATIONS IN THE ALLIANCE

Magog is referred to in the Old Testament on four occasions (Genesis 10:2; I Chronicles 1:5; Ezekiel 38:2; Ezekiel 39:6). It was initially identified as a descendant of Japheth a son of Noah as listed in the Genesis Table of Nations. Scholars have traced this word to the ancient Scythians tribes. These tribes lived in the region north of the Black Sea with a territory that stretched from Ukraine to Siberia. I guess you have heard of Ukraine lately and Russia’s invasion of it. 

 Magog is then the lands under the command of Gog. The word "stan" means "land" as in the countries of Kazakh-stan, Uzbeki-stan, Turkmeni-stan, Tajiki-stan and Afghani-stan. Interestingly, there is a saying that Afghanistan is such a harsh and foreboding land that it has proven historically to be "the place where the armies of the world go to die". So this word Magog is referring to both the commander of Russia {today Putin} and additionally the people and resources of those countries he has at his disposal. The location of these territories in ancient times included areas of central Asia and modern Russia. Ezekiel singles out Russia and gives its exact location as existing in the “remote parts of the north” (Ezekiel 38:15). Russia’s northern border is so remote it actually borders the Artic Circle whose center is the North Pole.  

Russia has recently shown it was completely willing to invade the peaceful sovern democratic country of Ukraine. And the people of Russia have not said a word, nor protested against this overt invasion to seize territory. In fact, recent polls show Putin’s approval ratings as of June 2025 were at 86%. So, Russian leadership has shown it is willing to invade a country, and the Russian people have shown they will support the invasion. While many Russians are quiet on this issue, their silence makes them complicit. 

Meshech and Tubal are ancient territories always linked together and are today located in Turkey south east of the Black Sea. Meshech is also thought by some scholars to be a reference to Moscow. Tubal is Turkey, a territory that once stretched into southern Russia and parts of Iran. These are the names of Noah’s fifth and sixth grandsons from his son Japheth (Genesis 10:2). Today, Turkey is ruled by the authoritarian Tayyip Erdogan who has been actively cutting ties with the west and exhibiting Islamic fundamentalist tendencies. 

Persia changed its ancient name to Iran in 1935 then changed it again in 1979 to the Islamic Republic of Iran signifying a republic but it is actually a Muslim theocracy. It is perhaps the most powerful and fiercest enemy of Israel.  

Ethiopia is a very ancient land south of Egypt know today as Sudan. It is another of Israel’s greatest enemies. It was founded by Cush the grandson of Noah (Genesis 10:6). It was once conquered by Moses when he was young and served as an Egyptian commander. 

Cush is today a territory in northern Sudan south of Egypt.

Put is today a territory under the control of Libya. 

Libya is the same as modern day Libya west of Egypt.  

Gomer is a territory that scholars do not agree on. It is either a west central region in Turkey adjacent to the territories of Meshiach and Tubal. Or, it is thought to be modern day Germany. This is because Gomer's ancient descendants were the Cimmerians, who migrated into the land now known as Germany. Gomer was the first son of Japheth and a grandson of Noah (Genesis 10:2). Remarkably, Germany might be part of this invading army as today the second largest political party in Germany is the Neo Nazis Party. Germany is also currently seeking permission to develop a nuclear weapon. They say it is protection against Russia, but who’s to say what the future holds for Germany and the use of their nuclear weapons? On an interesting note, Germany is still paying reparations for WWII. 

Beth-Togarmah literally means in Hebrew “House of Togarmah” which is a territory located in south eastern Turkey near Armenia and identified with the third son of Gomer in the Table of Nations (Genesis 10:3). “from the far north” so possibly modern day Turkey/Armenia.

Finally, many people may have two separate meanings. First it means that “other people” of other nations will also be a part of this military coalition. Most biblical scholars believe that the nations of Iraqi, Syria, Jordan, Egypt, Algeria and Tunisia will allow members of their population to also be part of the coalition.  

A REALISTIC SCENERIO THAT HAS EVER BEEN PROPOSED 

A second meaning of the phrase “many people” may be a direct existential threat to the very existence of Israel. Yes, Israel has the world’s third most highly rated army and the world’s greatest spy agency. And yes, Israel has numerous atomic weapons at its disposal. But there is a 'non violent' scenario that could make all these accolades irrelevant to the salvation of this nation.

ISRAEL’S MORAL QUANDRY  

The idea that Islamic armies and armed civilians will eventually march against Israel is a prophetic given. And, Israel has the legal right to respond to this invasion of armies by killing these armed military personnel just as it has done successfully many times in the past. 

But I am now going to propose a very realistic situation that even Israel has never contemplated and will be morally hard pressed to grapple with. 

Just imagine if these military armies group in surrounding nations then suddenly stand down. Now imagine an unarmed crowd of tens of millions of peaceful Arab mothers, fathers and children marching by the tens of millions towards the Israeli border. And, imagine if they were to be suddenly joined by tens of millions of unarmed Jews and Christians from around the world who are now mixed in with this Arab crowd. A virtual growing sea of peace protestors all slowly walking day by day ever closer to the Israeli borders and its awaiting army. Now imagine the entire world is watching in real time as this wall of humanity gets closer and closer to the Israeli boarder on every side from north to south and east to west. Eventually this host consist of hundreds of millions of people determined to finally, and ‘peacefully’, end what they see as a major reason the Middle East is always at war. That it is Israel who is the thorn that has been intentionally planted into the Arab body 77 years ago by a well-meaning but culturally ignorant group of western nations in an effort to save the Jewish race from extinction. Would this not thwart the War of Magog prophecy?

NOW FOR THE $64,000 QUESTION 

So the question is, will Israel fire on these unarmed masses? Will they use nuclear weapons to instantly vaporize hundreds of millions of men women and children? Will they be seen as now comitting genocide on people as once was forced on them by the Nazis of Germany? Or, will they agree that this grand experiment of a Jewish nation was never attainable and that its end was inevitable. That the killing of several hundred million or more peaceful people would be morally wrong in order to save a nation of nine million Jews. Would they then agree to conduct a peaceful mass Exodus from the land and allow it to return back to the native population?  

NOW FOR THE GOOD NEWS … IF YOU ARE ON THE SIDE OF ISRAEL 

Ezekiel is clear that the military army does enter Israeli territory and is destroyed. But not necessary any peace keepers. Here's why. As the Coalition army begins to move against Israel, with or without the millions of peace activist, Israeli military strategist begin to adjust pre-determined plans created for every possible contingency. If there are peace activist in great numbers, this will greatly complicate the plans.  

Israel currently has a buffer zone around its borders. It confiscated these lands as the spoils of war when it defeated unwarranted attacks by Syria, Jordan and Egypt. Therefore, Israel can wait and access what actions to take depending in the size of the attacking infantry. This means that while tanks, missile launchers and personnel trucks will all be destroyed in the buffer zone, Israel can wait to see if the foot soldiers and “other people” decide to retreat, or continue to press forward and actually cross Israel's border.

BUT WHY WOULD NATIONS THINK THEY COULD DEFEAT ISRAEL? 

The idea to attack Israel is based on greed, a way to payback America, and Islamic religious fervor (Ezekiel 38: 10-13). Greed in the form of the spoils of a war with Israel that Russia and Iran desperately need to bolster their weakened economies brough about by wars and international sanctions. Israel is described as a “great spoil” with vast reserves of “silver and gold”, world class "livestock" breeding and "exquisite merchandise”. A land that was described as “a continual waste” and “waste places” when once under the rule of the Palestinians, has now become an unbelievably prosperous nation of wealth. Israel is replete with international commerce, abundant natural resources including vast reserves of natural gas, innovative technology and deserts that bloom with abundant agriculture (Isaiah 35:1). Because the countries could never attack America and survive the retaliation, the next best thing would be to attack and destroy a nation that America loves and supports. Radical Islam has attacked American military bases, embassies and businesses regularly for the past three decades. So a direct attack and victory over Israel would be a symbolic victory over America, rid the Middle East once and for all of the Jewish Nation and their God, and return the land back to the Arab Palestinians and Allah. 

THIS IS WHEN THE MIRACLE PROPHECY KICKS IN

The prophet Ezekiel and Psalms prophet, Asaph, are crystal clear on the following events as dictated to them by the Word of God {Christ}. As the armies of Russian-Arab nations are well into the legal boundaries of Israel, God's Holy Land, it is then that God intervenes (Ezekiel 38: 9-13). We are told that God allows this invasion in order to show his judgement and power towards Antisemitism (Ezekiel 38:14-18). While the invasion is organized as it enters into Israel, it mysteriously turns into utter chaos. Much to the surprise of Israeli military onlookers and the astonishment of the world which is watching the events unfold in real time by satellite (Ezekiel 39:1-5). The armies apparently become confused and literally turn on themselves (Psalm 83:13-17; Ezekiel 38:17-23). Perhaps because of sudden vision impairment caused by an unexpected dust storm {power of the Holt Sprit}, word quickly spreads through the coalition that the Israeli army has appeared out of nowhere and is now imbedded in every formation. Thus, the Arab-Russian armies become petrified with fear and begin to shoot at any figure that they see in front of them, not knowing they are shooting their own comrades. Almost as quickly as it began, the shooting stops and the dust clears.  

There, in the defining silence, is the entire armies of Magog and the Arab nations some wounded, but the vast majority lie dead. The world is shocked and has no rational explanation as to how such a human catastrophe on this scale could have occurred (Psalm 83:18). All Russian and Arab military, along with the military Army of the Willing, are dead. All the weaponry is in excellent condition but the ammunition is spent. Only the occasional moan of the wounded and the wind can be heard. 

To make matters more confusing, any peace activist originally imbedded with the armies may have been spared! They are on the ground, covered in inches of dust dead bodies and empty shell casings piled up around them. They are no doubt in fetal positions, rocking back and forth sucking their thumbs….but they are alive! Not a one killed thanks to the power of the Holy Spirit. God performed this same miracle when He allowed the Angel of Death to kill only all the first born of the Egyptians (Exodus 11:5; Exodus 11:29). 

Having watched this from a rear vantage point, the remaining Russian Army reserves are also not sure what has happened. But they are sure that the war is lost for now. So they decide to retreat back north and home. However, God is not done with Gog and his armies. They too begin to inexplicitly turn on themselves and kill each other (Ezekiel 38:21-23). And this propensity continues to have outbreaks not only all the way back to Russia, but even as they cross the border and continue ever deeper and deeper into Mother Russia. God also now destroys all those who supported this invasion and are resting at ease throughout the world thinking they have escaped judgement (Ezekiel 39: 6-7). God, in His mercy, allows Russia to keep one sixth of its army to defend itself from the soon to be invasion of the Antichrist (Ezekiel 39:2). However, the Antichrist crushes the Russian military and takes control of the country (Daniel 11:43-44). 

It is this destruction of Russia, Iran and the vast majority of conservative Muslims fundamentalists in the Middle East that leaves a power vacuum that in turn allows the World Leader to seize this opportunity to step in under the guise of a peacemaker and begin his power play to become the Supreme Leader of the world. We are now midpoint in the the Tribulation Period. Israel will oversee a seven month period of time disposing millions of bodies and recycling millions of weapons (Ezekiel 39:9-14; Isaiah 2:4). 

HOW DO YOU EXPLAIN ALL OF THIS? 

While the Jews and Christians of the world instantly recognize the afore mentioned destruction of the collation armies as a bonafide miracle, the wicked of the earth have concluded the exact opposite (Psalm 83:18; Ezekiel 39:7). Imagine that? Yet another false theory will arise that is considered a truth in order to fit a certain ideology. The prophesied miracle of God will no doubt be explained as a tragic human error made in the confusion caused by an unforeseen and completely natural dust storm. While others will insist Israel released a chemical weapon of war which instantly drives a person insane, they die and then the agents break down into harmless molecules that cannot be detected by an autopsy.  

SO WHEN WILL THIS WAR OCCUR? 

Ezekiel states that this war occurs “After many days”, “In the latter years” (Ezekiel 38:8) and in the “latter days”(Ezekiel 38:16). When God initiates His final dealings with a continually petulant Israel (Isaiah 2:2). So, no matter what other scholars may say to sell books, this war has not yet occurred. The War of Armageddon is God’s final dealings with Israel and ends the Tribulation Period. The War of Magog is obviously distinct from Armageddon as Israel is victorious without lifting a finger nor losing a single member of its population. These time revelations by Ezekiel can only be referring to the time in which Israel has returned to its God given land and has once again became a nation.   

EVENTS BEFORE THE RAPTURE

Here are the only possible events that could occur before the Rapture. First, the War of Magog may occur before the Rapture so that the Righteous are allowed to see this remarkable miracle of God and prepare for the Rapture event. Second, the Righteous witness the War, and in the following international chaos, may see a World Leader arise. Third, the Righteous witness the War, the rise of the World Leader and may see Israel sign a 7 year peace treaty which includes the construction of a Third Temple in Jerusalem. Forth and finally, the Righteous witness the aforementioned events, the founding of a One World Religion, and the dedication of the Temple during which the False Prophet appears to draw down fire from Heaven to light the sacrificial alter (Revelation 13:13). The World Leader then declares himself a god, becomes the Antichrist and initiates his Mark of the Beast One World Economic System (II Thessalonians 2:4) . Some Jews revolt at this declaration, are massacred and the Great 3.5 year Tribulation Period begins (Matthew 24:15-16). This would be the final world event that the Righteous would be allowed to witness before being Raptured into Heaven and safety.

Please note, Paul tells us that the Man of Sin or Antichrist will not be revealed until after the Righteous of the earth are first removed by way of the Rapture (II Thessalonians 2:7). That said, the Tribulation Period is seven year long with the Great Tribulation Period occurring in the final half, or 3.5 years of this period. So, we have an initial 3.5 years in which events on the earth began to slowly turn dark, but not nearly like the final 3.5 years (Matthew 24:22). Therefore, there is a small window of time in the beginning of the Tribulation Period for prophesied events to take place, and the righteous might be allowed by God to witness them yet not be in harms way.

So, the Rapture could occur straight out of the blue before any signs of the Tribulation. Or, the Rapture could occur just before of after any of the afore mentioned events. But the Rapture will absolutely occur immediately after the World Leader declares himself a God, becomes the Antichrist and initiates a series of wars primarily in the Middle East.

In any case, the righteous will be resurrected and Raptured into Heaven before they are in any imminent danger of being harmed. This includes the righteous throughout the world. Once in Heaven, they are judged and rewarded {Bema Seat} for their good works, attend the Marriage of Christ to His Church {followers}, and attend a Wedding Supper. The Supper ends with all the members of His Church escorting Him back down to the earth. There, the incurable wicked are instantly destroyed and the righteous reign with Christ for the next one thousand years.

So the exact dates of these events we cannot know for certain. However, Ezekiel quotes God as saying, "I have decreed {commanded} this, I have seen it {happen}. It is fixed {in the timeline} and done {accomplished}" (Ezekiel 39:8). Thus we know that these prophecies are certain as they have been commanded by God who has personally witnessed these events occurring in the future, and has permanently installed these events in the timeline known as, The End of the Age of the Rule of Man on Earth.

So, our story has a happy ending after all!
